SCREEN PROBLEMS SOLUTION No picture on the screen (laptop seems to start but there's not even a faint picture on the screen) The laptop is not starting up properly because of another hardware problem (CPU, RAM) needs detail diagnostic The video chip on the motherboard has died Replace motherboard The screen has died Replace the screen Faint picture on the screen (point a light source directly on the screen you should be able to see the picture) The screens fluoro tube backlight has died (in some models the fluoro can be replaces by a professional) Replace screen The inverter board that powers the backlight has died Replace inverter board The inverter board is not receiving the startup impulse from the motherboard Replace motherboard Cracked Screen (physically broken) The screen has been physically damaged by an impact. Replace screen POWER PROBLEMS SOLUTION No lights coming up on laptop even though it's plugged into power. The power supply is faulty. Replace power supply The power input socket is broken inside the laptop (jack socket). Fix power socket on the m/board The power supply cable is broken. Fix cable or replace power supply
